ZTE Corporation, China's second-largest maker of phone equipment, denied media reports that it won an order from China Mobile Communications Corp for the fourth-generation handsets valued at several billion yuan, after its shares rose the highest in a month Monday.

"The report is not accurate," Rena Qin, a spokeswoman for Shenzhen-based ZTE, told Business Week. She declined to comment further, referring queries to China Mobile, the magazine said.

The company won part of China Mobile's first tender for 4G handsets, along with rivals including Huawei and a smaller phone maker of Coolpad, according to media reports.

Shares of ZTE rose 6.33 percent to 10.38 Hong Kong dollars Monday, after hitting an intraday high of 7.1 percent.

The companies have even not received the tender from China Mobile, Sinatech reported, quoting unnamed sources.

China Mobile had launched tenders for over 100,000 units of TD-LTE devices, the first for 4G terminals.
