The Liantang Port, being built to connect Shenzhen with Hong Kong, is going to be operational by the end of this year, reports thepaper.cn.[Special coverage]
As the 7th land-based entry-exit port between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, Liantang is located in Luohu District in Shenzhen. It covers an area of around 174-thousand square meters, the equivalent of roughly 25 football fields.
Different from other ports, Liantang will provide direct-arrivals for people and vehicles, allowing people to drive directly to the customs lobby before passing over a line of demarcation.
Liantang will also have seven "one stop" paths for goods, as well as twenty-four sections for people, nine of which will be manned. The other 15 points-of-entry will be self-service gates.
The port will also be serviced by Shenzhen's metro system. A new road to the port is also being built on the Hong Kong side.
