Another college student was found dead after being lured into a scam that disguised itself as recruitment.

20-year-old Lin Huarong, a sophomore at Changsha Nanfang Professional College, left for Zhongxiang in Hubei Province last month to work for a tea shop.

She was not regularly reachable by phone until she was found dead earlier this month.

Investigations found Lin was being threatened by scammers, but refused to pay what they had been demanding.

Lin reportedly jumped into the river and drowned after she was denied access to her phone.

Investigations and an autopsy are underway.

Lin is the latest victim of scams that target college students or new graduates who are desperate to find jobs or make money.

Last month, a job seeker from Shandong Province fell into a scam and was found dead in a pool in Tianjin.
