Local film magnate Shanghai Film Group Corporation released their upcoming film productions and projects at the ongoing 20th Shanghai International Film Festival.

Fantasy comedy film "The Legend of the Naga Pearls," to be release on August 4, is expected to be a box office sensation of the summer vacation. With stunning CG visual effects, it is an adventure to the fantasy word of mermaids.

"The Liquidator," an action-packed crime film based on Lei Mi's novel "Evil Minds," centers on a psychologist who uncovers the truth of a series of murder cases. Starring Deng Chao and Liu Shishi, the movie is slated for release on September 30. "Evil Minds" will also be adapted into a film franchise.

Classic animated series "Big-eared Tutu" and "Afanti" will be made into animated feature films.

Celebrated film maker Jia Zhangke will shoot a new movie "Money and Love," which tells a wild love story between a dancer and a bandit.

Malaysian martial arts writer Wen Rui'an also attended the festival to cooperate with the group to make a film franchise of his famous novel "The Four." Film, game, animation and theme park based on the fiction will be developed.

The Dirty Monkeys Film Corporation will team up with sci-fi novelist Liu Cixin, notable international film makers and young talented Chinese directors to produce an array of original sci-fi movies.

Mainland director Ning Hao, a founder of the Dirty Monkeys Film Corporation, announced today to shoot "Crazy Alien," a sci-fi comedy about a hilarious relationship between a zoo keeper and an alien.

"We hope to fill the void of the sci-fi genre in Chinese cinema with original stories," said Ning. "Hollywood professionals will also be invited to create impelling visual stunts for the movie."

Award-winning Hong Kong action director Yuen Woo-ping also announced to helm "Invisible Guard," a 3D live-action blockbuster adapted from a popular animated series.

Set in the late Tang Dynasty, the youth martial arts film depicts ancient Chinese legends and heroes who have superb kung fu stunts.
