The marking of International Children's Day on Thursday this week has placed a focus on efforts to improve the lives of children across China.
While many people in the country's urban areas now enjoy good education and living conditions, there are still tens of thousands of children in rural areas living tough lives.
However, China's push to lift millions out of poverty is now seeing concrete results.
As one walks along the mountain path next to the Bahao Primary School in Guangxi in south China, it is easy to notice the long silvery water pipe that extends deep into the mountains, which brings fresh and clean spring water into the village.
School principal Luo Feng explained how the project became a reality.
"The Ping An Trust came to our school and learned about our situation. They decided to donate 200,000 yuan to carry out the Mountain Spring Project. The project ensures the spring water, which is almost two kilometers away from our school, can reach us. Since then, we have had plenty of fresh water to use, especially on rainy days."
