Participants at the conference visited schools, residential communities and enterprises in Shanghai yesterday to see how the city practices health promotion.
Shanghai Lianshang Network Technology in Pudong New Area was one of the stops, where some of the visitors to the conference watched tai chi exercises being performed by the company's employees.
Tai chi is a daily physical exercise at the company, and one of its numerous health activities aimed at improving employees' fitness. Those who want to take part do so in an open space after lunch.
A senior company official, Li Lei, has been practicing tai chi for 17 years and introduced the practice to his employees.
There are now up to 30 people practicing tai chi every working day at the network technology company.
"Tai chi is a very good exercise and it's good that people can have a break after a long time of concentration of work," said Satini Tulaga Manuella, minister of health of Tuvalu, after the visit. "People today have to watch PCs and screens for a long time at work and concentration becomes part of their business now."
