Italian authorities say the death toll from this past week's deadly earthquake in central Italy remains static for the time being.
Fabrizio Curcio is the Head of the local Civil Protection Authority.
"Unfortunately, the numbers are still the same, as you know at the moment the death toll is 290 due to a correction that was made by the Rieti prefect office. There are more than 2,500 displaced people as well."
However, bodies are still being pulled from the rubble from last Wednesday's quake, suggesting the death toll is likely to surpass 300.
A quake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale hit at a shallow depth early Wednesday morning in central Italy, bringing down homes on people as they slept.
A state of emergency remains in effect in the region.
