Shanghai Oriental Pearl Media Co and Huayi Brothers Media will improve their cooperation in the areas of copyright, online film production, branding and cultivating talent, managers said at the annual Shanghai Television Festival, which began yesterday.

The festival, which runs until Friday, brings acclaimed overseas and domestic productions to local television screens.

For the first time, the American fantasy series "Game of Thrones" season I and II will be aired on the local Drama Channel at 10pm until June 15.

Some new projects were also announced.

Shanghai Oriental Pearl Media Co representatives said a batch of original online films and series will be presented this year to support up-and-coming filmmakers and actors in China. South Korean heartthrob Song Seung-heon attended the event to promote the upcoming show "Yulejia." The live program will offer fans rare opportunities to interact with their idols through a mobile app.

Shanghai-based SMG Pictures yesterday announced that it will collaborate with Fuji Television Network to co-produce five Chinese remakes of successful Japanese series over the next three years.

The first production, a remake of the popular Japanese romantic comedy series "Dating: What's It Like To Be In Love?" will start shooting in October. Veterans from Fuji Television Network will offer technical support.

The series will also become the first installment of "Pure Love Trilogy," followed by Chinese remakes of "Operation Love" and "The Best Divorce."
