The Chinese government has sent around 96 tons of medication to Venezuela help patients in that country suffering from both the Zika virus and Guillain-Barre syndrome.
Venezuelan Health Minister Luisana Melo says the assistance from China can be traced back to President Xi Jinping's Latin American tour two years ago, which saw him make a stop-over in Venezuela.
"This shipment is part of what, since 2014, has been deepening trade relations between China and Venezuela and this cooperation is so diverse that it includes the acquisition of raw materials as well as any type of medication."
Guillain-Barre syndrome is a rare disorder which sees a person's nervous system attacked by their immune system.
It can lead to paralysis, which can sometime be fatal.
Characteristics of the Zika virus mymic Guillain-Barre, which means the medication being sent to Venezuela can also help treat that infection as well.
Venezuela is one of a number of countries in South America which has been struggling to contain the Zika virus, which is linked to severe birth defects.
