China's Organizing Committee for the 2022 Winter Olympics has set up its official office.
The office is located on the premises of a closed steelwork plant in western Beijing.
The office opened with nine departments and two centers for its initial operation.
About 130 workers are stationed there.
Liu Yumin with China Olympic Organization Committee says setting up the office at the site of a closed factory is part of the wider cost-saving efforts, "By making use of a closed factory, the organizing committee hopes to show our determination of hosting the Olympics Games in a thrifty and environmental-friendly way. And it also lives up to the concept of Olympic agenda 2020."
The steelwork is owned by Shougang Group, one of China's largest steel manufacturers.
The steel plant was ordered to suspend most of its production on the premises prior to the 2008 Summer Olympics.
The steelwork was later moved completely out of the capital, leaving its large industrial area unused until now.
