The Shanghai airport authority will build another hanger especially for business jets at the Hongqiao Airport by 2019 due to soaring demand, officials said yesterday.
The city's two airports handled 5,536 takeoffs and landings by business jets last year, which was up 15.5 percent from 2014.
The hanger, which will be of the same size as the current facility, is expected to be ready by late 2018 and put into service in 2019, Lu Xun, deputy general manager of Shanghai Hawker Pacific Aviation Service Center, said today ahead of the 2016 Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition that opens tomorrow.
About 30 of the world's most popular business jets will on display at the three-day exhibition at the center. Also, 170 aircraft makers, including business jet giants Dassault Falcon and Bombardier, are participating as well.
