The eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou is going to hold a cuisine competition to help choose the best food for guests attending the upcoming G20 summit, according to Shanghai-based news portal The Paper.
It will be the first time Hangzhou has hosted such a high level international conference.
The city is also trying to sell its tourism and food industry as high ranking officials from 20 countries will gather for the summit in September this year.
The cuisine competition consists of three items, namely local food cooking, bouquet design and reception, as well as western food and breakfast.
Teams competing in the competition will be from hotels and restaurants, which will be selected to host the guests and media personnel.
Each team is asked to cook six cold dishes, six hot dishes and four deserts.
The dishes are expected to reflect local flavors which boast a salty sweet taste.
The cost of each table should be under 2,000 yuan, or about 300 US dollars.
The judges will then select the 20 best dishes for use in the final menu during the summit.
The menu will be largely based on local Hangzhou cuisine, but will also have China's other major styles of cooking, as well as some western based food.
