The comedy romance "Ex-Files 2-The Backup Strikes Back!" will hit cinemas across China on Friday. The cast of the film, helmed by Tian Yusheng held a premiere yesterday with local students of the East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai.

The film is a sequel to the series' first installment which was released in 2014. Starring mainland actor Zheng Kai and Taiwanese actress Amber Kuo, the movie tells a hilarious love story between a TV director and a rising pop star.

The pop star misleads the TV director that he's in love with her to win the director's favor in a TV show. It soon irritates the director who seeks revenge on the star under the guidance of a self-proclaimed love guru.

Director Tian said that the series' story was inspired by the love experiences of his friend. It tries to explore the emotions and confusion of people living in the fast-paced modern society.

After the screening, Zheng and director Tian also shared with college students behind-the-scene stories of the movie.
