Cambodian police have arrested 22 Chinese nationals in connection with a telecom scam being operated out of the country.
"Police have seized a number of telephones computers and other electronic materials during the raid. Suspects often use overseas servers to make phone calls which make it more difficult for the Chinese police to trace them. They usually call their victims in China, claiming to be court or police officials, noting that the victims' bank accounts had been breached so that they have to transfer the money to a separate safe account."
This is not the first telecom scam involving Chinese suspects in Cambodia.
In September of 2013, Cambodian police arrested 61 Chinese nationals in connection with a similar scam.
