Beijing Public Transportation Group says in a corporate social responsibility report that their buses run a total distance of more than 1.3 billion kilometers last year, equivalent to circling the earth 90 times each day.

Public buses carried more than 4.5 billion passengers last year, which is the most popular means of public transport in Beijing.

The company says they set up 18 special lines in 2014 that link communities for easier commuting.

Beijing also replaced around 3,000 old buses with new energy buses, which reduced the emission of pollutants by nearly 167 tons.
