Beijing is to implement its 6th stage emission regulation on its automobiles next year according to various media outlets.

This means that once again the capital will be at the forefront of reforming emission standards in the entire country again.

The new emission regulation will include five parts aiming at oil products along with both light and heavy vehicles.

Currently, the plan is still under research and discussion.

For the first time, the new regulation will use the emission standard in the U.S especially the regulations in the state of California which are the strictest in the world.

Many analysts have confirmed that the American emission regulations are much more feasible in big cities in China, like Beijing.

The 5th stage emission regulation currently adopted in the capital city is more similar to the European standard.

In the meantime, the 6th stage regulation on oil products' quality will also be carried out.

The regulation will mainly aim at reducing the amount of sulphur in oil, which is the main factor causing air pollution and smoggy weather.

Statistics show that automobiles' discharge is to blame for 31% of the smog in the capital.

Beijing has implemented 5 stages of automobiles' emission regulations since 1999, always a couple of years earlier than other cities in the country.
