The Beijing Bid Committee says Beijing and Zhangjiakou have enough snow for hosting the Winter Olympic Games.
The International Olympic Committee has released the assessment report on the bids by Beijing and Almaty for the 2022 Games.
It highlights the opportunities and challenges in hosting the Games in each candidate city.
As for Beijing, snow conditions and water management are regarded as a challenge for the bidding.
Zhao Yinggang, vice secretary general of Beijing Bid Committee, says winter sports are developing fast in Beijing and Zhangjiakou, and the area is capable of hosting winter sports events.
"Around the Zhangjiakou snow pack, there were more than 20 snow occurrences. The organization did its research and says worries no longer exist. This shows current weather conditions and snow conditions are good enough for events like skiing. "
Beijing's air is another major concern.
Fang Li, head of the Environmental Protection department in Beijing bid team, says his team will keep a close eye on weather conditions.
"When faced with extreme weather conditions, superimposed time will be longer, so that pollutant concentration will be higher. Of course, our forecasting skill is improving, so we will take measures to reduce emissions. We will ensure air conditions are of a qualified standard, without jeopardizing local people's rights. "
Fang added that Beijing's air is getting better as air quality improvements have been considered as a livelihood project by the local government.
