The global frenzy over Apple's iPhone 6 and 6 Plus has been cooling off. Not in China, though.
The iPhone 6 was the best-selling smartphone in China during a three-month period ending in February, the latest data from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech shows.
Kantar Worldpanel ComTech tracks worldwide smartphone sales and publishes a three-month rolling average in major geographical locations.
"There has been a strong appetite for Apple's products in urban China since the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and this has continued into Chinese New Year [in mid-February]," said Carolina Milanesi, chief of research at Kantar Worldpanel ComTech.
The data shows the iPhone 6 Plus was the third best-selling smartphone after the iPhone 6 and Xiaomi's RedMI Note.
The combined performance of Apple's two flagship phones helped push Apple's market share in China to 27.6 percent, an all-time high.
However, China appeared to be a standout market for Apple, as most of other major smartphone markets have recorded a sales decline compared to the previous three-month period ending in January. These markets include the United States, Japan, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Australia.
Samsung, Apple's biggest rival in the global market, will launch its latest flagship models, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, this Friday (April 10).
"The new flagship products in the Android ecosystem by Samsung, HTC, LG and Huawei shipping from April across markets will inject a new spark in the ecosystem battle," said Milanesi.
