Police in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang province, have initiated a service that provides police car convoys to certain groups of people when withdrawing large sums of money.

Citizens in the city's Shangcheng district can file an application to this service if they are to withdraw money of over 50 thousand yuan.

During the convoy, the citizens will be taken by a special police car, which is half the size of the regular one but is more convenient.

The elderly, women, and the disabled will be among the ones to be first served.

The initiative is to cater to the increasing need for security while large sums of money are being withdrawn, especially a year-end bonus and lucky money from the upcoming Chinese lunar new year.
