The first anti-terrorism control area was formally established in the Beijing West Railway Station on Thursday, guarded by special forces, Beijing Times reports.

The administration committee of the station has formally set up the control area in the bus lane of the north square, with 24-hour closed-off management, as a noticeable increase of passengers can be seen in four biggest railway stations in Beijing after the second day of the spring festival travel rush.

The control area can be seen in the north square of the station where there is a row of white fences and two lines of road barriers, safeguarded by special forces with anti-riot sticks and steel forks.

Except buses and special-purposed vehicles, all public automobiles and non-motor vehicles are forbidden in this area. During the period of 5 am to midnight, the police will be on the spot to guard the place, while during midnight and 5am, there will be isolated guardrails.

It is the first time that an anti-terrorism control area was set up in the Beijing railway station region.

It is possible that such situations will continue after the spring festival travel rush.
