Six Chinese nature reserves in IUCN's green list

Six nature reserves in China made it in to the World Conservation Union's Green List for Protected Areas (GLPA).

The six reserves are the Changqing National Nature Reserve in northwest China's Shaanxi province, the East Dongting Lake National Nature Reserve in central China's Hunan province, Mount Huangshan in east China's Anhui province, the Longwanqun (or dragon creeks) National Forest Park in northeast China's Jilin province, the Tangjiahe National Nature Reserve in southwest China's Sichuan province and the Five Joined Lakes National Park in northeast China's Heilongjiang province.

Authorities in-charge of these facilities received certificates at an award ceremony in Beijing on Friday confirming that these six nature reserves adhered to World Conservation Union's standards.

The World Conservation Union's Green List of Protected Areas was established during the World Parks Congress in Sydney last November. It provides a global standard for evaluating the world's nature reserves. It also includes 18 other nature reserves in 7 other countries.
