22 Shanghai stampede victims still in hospital

A total of 22 people injured in the stampede on New Year's Eve on the Bund in which 36 people were killed and 49 injured were still hospitalized at 11am this morning.

The number in a serious condition now stands at six — down from seven yesterday — including one patient in critical condition, said the Shanghai Health and Family Planning Commission today.

Medical social workers and volunteers have started to offer psychological counseling to patients and their families.
