The number of "one-stop" service centers for foreigners will rise to 33 from Thursday with the opening of nine new branches, police said yesterday.
The exact addresses of the new facilities are available at the Shanghai Daily website. They are located in Changning, Jing'an, Zhabei, Yangpu, Minhang and Songjiang districts and the Pudong New Area.
Most are within residential complexes that have a large proportion of foreign residents and at industrial parks where expats work. Visitors can use the centers to apply for temporary residence permits, visa preprocessing and to get access to legal advice.
Police also said yesterday that from Thursday Shanghai citizens will be able to access a range of new services via the city government's and exit-entry administration's WeChat accounts.
People will be able to make appointments to apply for passports and entry permits, check on the progress of ongoing applications, and even get details of their traffic violations, officials said.
Meanwhile, the city's Internet police are offering free "health checks" to website operators to help them evade viral infections and close loopholes.
Finally, Metro police said they will set up "missing persons" offices for people who get lost on the subway network.
