Pet owner killed dog thief

A pet owner strangled a dog thief that poisoned his dog in the Pudong New Area.

The owner, surnamed Bian, discovered a man, surnamed Sha, stealing his dog from his backyard at dawn recently.

The dog, which had been poisoned, was struggling and in pain.

The men fought as Sha tried to flee on his scooter. During the struggle, Bian strangled Sha until he fell to the ground.

Bian then cried for help and called police.

Sha was pronounced dead in hospital.

Because Bian was considered to be of good character by relatives and neighbors, many petitioned the court seeking a lighter sentence.
