Representing the United States Agency for International Development, US Ambassador to China Max Baucus presented US$950,000 to the Shanghai Children's Medical Center and Project HOPE yesterday.

The donation, which was provided by USAID's American Schools and Hospitals Abroad Program, will be used to help promote pediatric cardiac care in China.

The money will be spent on medical equipment for pediatric cardiac disease treatment, including a 3D electroatomic mapping system and a cardiac color Doppler ultrasonic diagnostic instrument, said the center.

Before the presentation ceremony, Baucus toured the hospital and presented gifts to children.
