Local foreigners got a tour of the city's political advisory body yesterday.

To celebrate its 65th birthday, the Shanghai Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference invited more than 100 people, including 13 foreign students and experts, into its office for the first time.

During the tour, they were introduced to the history and daily work of the organization.

"I was excited," said Conrad Guimarages, a Fudan University exchange student from Australia.

"As I am majoring in politics, it would be very helpful for my studies."

"It was very informative. As foreigners become more and more involved in local affairs, they can contribute to the well-being of all of us," said Sebastian Bersick, associate professor of the Center for China-EU Relation at Fudan.
