More than 460,000 train tickets have been sold for the National Day holiday, which is now just two weeks away, the Shanghai railway authority said yesterday.
The city's main railway stations expect to handle 450,000 passengers on October 1, the first day of the holiday.
Tickets for trains leaving Shanghai at the start of the holiday, for destinations such as Xi'an, Zhengzhou, Guangzhou, Nanning, Wuhan and Hefei, are almost sold out, but there are plenty left for short journeys to Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou and Ningbo.
