Discounts bring in the crowd

Scenic spots offering half price tickets on the second day of the Shanghai Tourism Festival yesterday received more visitors because of warm weather.

About 46,000 tourists crowded the Shanghai Wildlife Park yesterday, compared to only 19,000 on Saturday.

The Shanghai Ocean Aquarium received more than 9,022 tourists, double its normal Sunday figure.

But for some attractions like the Shanghai Zoo and the Shanghai Botanical Garden, which are less expensive, the number of visitors did not jump significantly.

A total of 56 scenic spots in the city are offering half-price tickets for seven days until Friday.
