Both Apple and the FBI are now investigating the nude photo scandal that has snared many US and international celebrities.

The number of victims is now said to have passed 100.

An FBI statement says the agency is "addressing the matter" but refused to make any further comments.

Meanwhile, tech giant Apple says the company is investigating if iCloud accounts belonging to the victims had been hacked.

Earlier, Jennifer Lawrence's spokesperson issued a statement, calling the leak "a flagrant violation of privacy".

Model Kate Upton has confirmed the leak of her photos.

Her lawyer issued a statement, saying they intend to pursue anyone disseminating or duplicating these images to the fullest extent possible.

Some stars also took to social media to condemn the leak.

The intimate images were posted on forum site 4chan and went viral on the internet over the weekend.

So far, no suspects have been identified.
