Jinan police capture rape, torture suspect

A man suspected of illegally confining, raping and sexually torturing a female university student has been captured, according to police in Jinan, the capital city of Shandong province.

The 52-year-old suspect surnamed Dai was riding an electric bicycle around Jinan Railway Station last Thursday and met a 22-year-old university student, www.dawww.com reported yesterday, citing police.

Since she was alone, he decided to try and cheat her out of some money. Dai charged her 50 yuan (US$8.13) for a ride to another railway station even though he didn't know how to get there, the report said.

The woman missed her train and became very angry, the website said. She asked to be taken back to Jinan Railway Station and Dai pretended to agree, according to the report. On the way, he told her the electric bicycle's battery was losing power and he needed to change it.

Dai took the woman to his home. He then tied her up and raped her, the report said. Dai also gave her sex drugs and tortured her with sex toys, the report added.

On Monday, the woman took a chance and sent a message to her friend while Dai was making breakfast, the report said. After receiving the report, Jinan police started a blanket search and found the woman.

Dai was caught and remains in police custody pending the outcome of their investigation, the report said.
