Amazon says it will buy live-streaming gaming network Twitch Interactive for about 970 million US dollars in cash.
The deal will mark one of the U.S. e-commerce company's largest deals to date.
Amazon says the deal is expected to close before the year is out.
Amazon has been adding to its investments in original television and gaming content over the last few years.
Twitch, launched in the summer of 2011, lets viewers message one-another during live play.
The format is garnering interest as one of the fastest-growing segments of digital video streaming.
