Outbound travelers from Shanghai Pudong International Airport increased more than 8 percent during a 10-day period in the middle of this month, the Shanghai Entry-exit Frontier Inspection station said.

The number of outbound travelers reached over 410,000 from August 11-20, up 8.28 percent from last year. During the 10 days, the airport had an average of 41,000 outbound trips. Nearly 20 percent of outbound travelers in the period were students ranging from 16 to 25 years old, the frontier inspection station said.

Tens of thousands of Chinese students are traveling to overseas countries this month before the new school semester begins. Most of them go to English-speaking countries such as Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.
