A mother in Chongqing has promised a 100,000 yuan ($16,000) reward for anyone who can provide clues to the whereabouts of her daughter who has been missing for nine days, Chongqing Economic Times reports.

Gao Yu, a 20-year-old undergraduate of Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, lost contact with her family on August 9, en route from her home in Tongliang District to Yuzhong District.

Gao's mother, surnamed Niu, said the girl took a "black taxi" rather than the car she had arranged, while she made her last phone call before her disappearance at about 6:00pm with a classmate of hers when in Bishan, a district between her home and the city's urban area.

Local police have launched a search, but with little progress.

Niu said the most arresting feature of her daughter is a row of three moles on her jaw, while the 160cm tall girl took a white and yellow bag and a pet dog with her when leaving home.

People can report information to police or dial 13647622027 to contact the family.
