Chinese designed and manufactured 96A tanks have made their debut at this year's tank biathlon competition.

Teams from 12 countries are competing in a military training area near Moscow.

Except for China, all the countries use T-72 tanks.

The teams compete by passing obstacles and in the accuracy of shooting. They have to hit targets both on the ground and in the air, using the main gun and a machine gun.

The Chinese team, with four 96A tanks, has performed quite well in the shooting competition on the first day of the biathlon.

Huang Xucong is the head of the Chinese delegation.

"The Chinese team is the only team to hit the targets in all three live firings today. We have the best and most advanced shooting skill and fire control system. And our team members did a good job."

The tank biathlon, including 4 stages of competition, will continue until August 12.
