Hi-tech equipments used for rescue in SW China

More than 20 pieces of high-tech equipment for emergency rescue are being used in the earthquake-hit areas in Yunnan province.

A spokesperson from China's armed police said Monday that the equipment on site includes vertical-taking-off-and-landing drones, early warning systems for subsequent mudslides and hi-tech life detectors.

According to the spokesperson, one of drone had searched an area of 10 square meters, documenting the flight in a 25-minute video recording on Monday afternoon. The information will be shared by local authorities and rescue teams to prioritize rescue efforts in the southwest Chinese province.

A 6.5-magnititude earthquake ripped through Yunnan province's Ludian county on Sunday afternoon. A total of 398 people have been confirmed dead and more 1800 have been injured.
