Ouyang Community has launched the city's first online meal delivery system for senior citizens.

Seniors can order their lunch and dinner without leaving home via the online "Ouyang Warm Sunset" program. They can order meals at the community committee to take meals together.

The program is part of the online nursing system that also offers medical care and psychological counseling to seniors that was launched in 2010. Nearly 5,000 senior citizens have registered for the system.

The online nursing home is based on five service centers and 18 community committees.

Tianbao Road W. in the community is the first to establish a specialized station to offer meal deliveries and medical services.

Ouyang is a community with about 20,000 elderly people - about 30 percent of the area's total population. Lonely seniors and other aging problems are common in the area, said Mo Wending, the associate dean of the community.

More social funds should be attracted to improve the community nursing systems, Mo suggested.
