Four armed men slashed passengers outside Guangzhou Railway Station 11:30am on Tuesday, injuring six people, Guangzhou Daily reported.
Police fired after warning failed to stop the attack and one man carrying a knife was shot and controlled, the report said.
Previous witness account said there were two attackers.
The assailants were wearing small white hats, according to witnesses.
At least six people were injured in the incident.
It's unclear yet how badly they were injured or what happened to the rest of the attackers.
