Fire engulfing Dalian building suspectedly caused by welding work

A 34-floor residential building is engulfed by black fumes in Dalian City, northeast China's Liaoning Province.

The inferno took place at midday of Monday after a welding operation accidentally ignited heat insulation wall on the building surface, witnesses reportedly told local media. Strong wild caused the fire to climb up through the air conditioning machines quickly and the building was soon completely on fire.

A resident in a 33rd-floor flat was once trapped but helped out by fire fighters. Other residents were believed to have been evacuated in time. The fire was controlled by press time with no casualties reported yet.
