A mother attacked a nurse with a broom after she failed to properly insert a needle into her baby's arm on Monday in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, Youth News reported.
The 35-year-old nurse surnamed Jiang sustained bruises on her arm, lower leg and back, a lump over her head and had a headache after the attack at Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, the report said.
The mother had taken her 5-month-old baby to the hospital and doctors diagnosed the infant with measles. Jiang failed to insert the needle properly after three other nurses had also tried and failed. The baby's mother then started beating Jiang with a broom, the report said. She hit Jiang so hard that the broom had broken by the time a hospital security guard arrived at the scene, according to the report.
The mother was taken to a police station, where she said she regretted her actions. The report also said she was willing to apologize to Jiang.
