Nikon China responded on March 16 to its defective D600 cameras, which have been reported to make dark spots in its photos. The company said it has still not confirmed that there is an overall defect in all of its D600 cameras.

However, The Shanghai Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce has ordered the D600 DSLR cameras to be taken off shelves.

According to Nikon China, the appearance of dark spots and the allowance of dust into the camera are due to the structure of the camera and the difference between different sets.

Some camera repair shops told consumers that the dark spots showing up in pictures was a result of smog, a claim that has been denied by Nikon.

Currently, the Shanghai Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce is making further investigation into the problems of the D600 camera. Nikon China promises to repair or replace any defective cameras free of charge.
