Ministry updates visa info for Chinese travellers

According to the Bureau of Exit and Entry Administration of the Ministry of Public Security, since January 1, 2014, a total of 45 countries and regions have implemented visa-free or visa-on-arrival polices for Chinese private-citizen passport holders.

For those holding ordinary passports, traveling to these locations requires a valid passport and booked return tickets, which are to be checked at the immigration and border control authority of each country.

By November 2013, a total of 18 countries (regions) had signed mutual visa-free or visa-on-arrival agreements with China for Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports, according to an earlier report on Xinhuanet.com.

Based on the updated statistics, four countries listed in mutual visa-free agreement include San Marino, Seychelles, Mauritius and the Bahamas.

Six countries (regions) in unilateral visa-free agreements with China include Samoa, Haiti, South Korea's Jeju region, U.S. Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), British Turks and Caicos Islands, British South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.

The other 35 countries (regions) involved in visa-on-arrival polices for Chinese private passport holders are as follows: The Maldives, Georgia, Brunei, Indonesia, Fiji, Comoros, East Timor, Palau, Burma, The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Jordan, Laos, Lebanon, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Iran, Vietnam, Egypt, Togo, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Madagascar, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Guyana, British St Helena, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
