Survey of information on movable antiquities and treasures housed by more than 20,000 of China's government agencies, institutions, state-owned companies and the army will be finished by the end of 2016, according to the National Bureau of Cultural Relics on Tuesday.

It is the first time the country conduct a complete set of surveys on estimated 100 million relics to build an information database and better management system, according to Song Xinchao, deputy director of the National Bureau of Cultural Relics.

Information collection largely relies on voluntarily declaration by government units. However, large-scale evaluation of relics preserved on grass-roots level is the most difficult.

A network platform will open to the public. People can appreciate the valuable cultural relics online, Song said.
