A kindergarten teacher at Zhenan kindergarten in Dongguan city, Guangdong province, has been removed after injuring a 6 year-old student named Xiao Na. On December 13, 2013, after finding a 4 cm long wound on her daughter's ear, Xiao Na's mother took the young girl to a clinic for examination. The doctor informed Xiao Na's mother that the injury appeared to be the result of external force.

Upon being confronted by Xiao Na's mother, the young girl's teacher claimed that she first noticed the wound when brushing the girl's hair. However, the child told her mother that the teacher was lying and that the wound was a result of the teacher twisting the young girl's ear.

Despite apologies from the teacher, Xiao Na's mother called the police on December 15, 2013. Xiao Na's mother said she does not want her daughter to study in the kindergarten anymore and also asked for 20,000 yuan in compensation to cover costs related to the tuition fee, medical fees and mental damage.

The kindergarten declined interview requests and said that further investigation is currently ongoing. According to the statement made by the local education department on December 17, the two parties have already reached a settlement. The kindergarten decided to dismiss the teacher in question and stressed that further teacher training will be implemented in the future.
