A fire in Beijing killed at least 11 people and injured four Tuesday night, local police said.

The fire in a storehouse in Xiaowuji of Chaoyang District was reported to the police at around 8:30 p.m., with burning areas covering more than 500 square meters.

At least 11 people were dead and four others were injured, said the police, adding that the injured have been sent to hospital.

The fire was put out at around 11 p.m., firefighters said.

Two owners of the storehouse have been under control of the police. Further investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.
