China will continue to offer aid to Syrian refugees during the current complicated situation, said Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi in Beijing on Wednesday.

Yang made the remarks while meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees Antonio Oliveira Guterres.

In order to seek a fundamental solution to the refugee issue, countries should safeguard long lasting peace, promote common development and win-win cooperation, said the state councilor.

The Chinese government is committed to global humanitarian effort, and supports the work of the UN refugee agency, he said.

Guterres appreciated China's contribution to world peace and development and agreed with China's position on the refugee issue, hoping for further cooperation with China in this field.
