China, Vietnam vow to boost cooperative partnership

China and Vietnam vowed on Tuesday to further develop the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries. [Special coverage]

In a joint statement issued during the visit by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, the two sides reiterated a policy of long-term stability, future orientation, good-neighborliness and comprehensive cooperation, as well as a spirit of good neighbors, friends, comrades and partners in developing relations.

To enhance strategic communication, deepen practice cooperation, properly handle problems, strengthen coordination and cooperation on regional and global affairs and push for long-term, stable and healthy development of their bilateral ties not only conform to the interests of both countries, their parties and peoples, but also contribute to world and regional peace, stability and development, said the statement.

China and Vietnam pledged to make good use of the Guiding Committee for China-Vietnam Bilateral Cooperation to advance their mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, it added.

They also decided to implement the Action Plan for Implementing the China-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, and give full play to communication and cooperation mechanisms in such areas as diplomacy, defense, economy and trade, public security, safety, press and publicity departments, to enhance mutual trust and safeguard the stable development of bilateral relations.

Vietnam is the last leg of Li's first Southeast Asia tour as premier, which has taken him to Brunei and Thailand. While in Brunei, he attended a series of East Asian leaders' meetings and expounded China's policy on promoting regional cooperation and development.
