Helen Mirren, the Oscar-winning British actress who starred in the movie "The Queen," told budding Chinese film talent to never stop learning during a conference at the on-going 16th Shanghai International Film Festival yesterday.

Mirren, on her first visit to China, attended the local premiere of her director-husband Taylor Hackford's latest film, "Parker."

Last night at Shanghai Film Art Center, she also attended the screening of "Hitchcock," in which she plays the film master's wife opposite Anthony Hopkins.

"No matter who you are - an actor, a director or a writer - never stop learning and never lose the humility that is required for people to learn," Mirren said.

Though she has won numerous awards including four British BAFTA awards, three Golden Globes, four Emmy Awards and one Academy Award, the actress said that she always looks to learn from others.

After successfully portraying the roles of powerful women such as Elizabeth II and Cleopatra, Mirren received a compliment from Western movie critics who commented that she was born to be a queen on screen.

But, she added, "I also played a lot of servant and housekeeper roles."
