Exhibit on pop art icon Warhol to open

A petrospective of the work of the late pop artist Andy Warhol is coming to the city, opening at Power Station of Art on April 28.

"Andy Warhol: 15 Minutes Eternal" features more than 500 of the artworks of the father of pop art, including paintings, photographs, screen to prints, drawings, and sculptures.

The exhibit spans the career of Andy Warhol (1928-1987) from the 1940s to 1980s.

On loan from the Andy Warhol Museum, the exhibition chronicles the breadth of Warhol's career and demonstrates the scope of his interests.

The iconic works in the exhibition include Jackie (1964), Marilyn Monroe (1967), Silver Liz (1963), Campbell's Soup (1961), The Last Supper (1986), and Self-Portrait (1986).

"Fascinated by the glitterati, Warhol remains a complex and often misunderstood person 25 years after his death, whose artwork depicting consumer objects such as Heinz ketchup, and paintings of Marilyn Monroe have been imprinted into our collective consciousness," said Xiang Liping with the museum. "We are glad that the local art lovers will be able to learn from a short distance what the man really is and what he created through this show."

This is the first exhibition of a single artist at Power Station of Art since its opening in October. Education programs will accompany the three-month long exhibition.

The Andy Warhol Museum is located in Pittsburgh, in the United States, the city of Andy Warhol's birth.

The exhibition is visiting five Asian cities in 27 months. Admission for the exhibition is 20 yuan (US$3.22) per person.
