Pudong airport to swap terminals of 3 airlines

2012-12-06 14:08 Shanghai Daily     Web Editor: Zang Kejia comment

The check-in counters and gates of three air carriers - Shanghai Airlines, Spring Airlines and Juneyao Airlines - will switch terminals at Pudong International Airport as of December 18.

Spring and Juneyao airlines will move to Terminal 2 from the current Terminal 1 at 12am December 18, while Shanghai Airlines will be switched to Terminal 1 from 2 at the same time.

Any flights from the previous day that were delayed until December 18 will still use the former terminal buildings, the Shanghai Airport Authority said. The carriers said they will issue statements on the day and staffers will remind passengers of the switch.

Shuttle buses will operate between the two terminals for passengers who go to the wrong terminal. Airline crew members will also be deployed to assist passengers.

"The switch is mainly for construction to build the airport into an aviation hub," according to the website of China Eastern Airlines, which owns Shanghai Airlines. All the China Eastern flights have been at the Terminal 1.

Pudong airport is also building its fourth and fifth runways to help accommodate jumbo jets.

The move will make it more convenient for passenger to transfer to other flights, Juneyao Airlines said.

Passengers with questions can dial Pudong airport's hotline, 96990, or log onto for more information and inquiries.
