(Ecns.cn)--A cartoonish noodle machine has grabbed much attention in Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province, by skillfully and efficiently slicing noodles from a lump of dough, reported China News Service on Thursday.

According to Yang Kairong, the restaurant owner, the robot resembles "Xiyangyang," a fictional goat from a very popular Chinese cartoon, and works three times faster than a human and never asks for payment.

The robot also keeps the customers amused, added Yang. "I have improved the knife it uses twice, so that the noodles it produces are as chewy as those made by people."
